Connected Car California hosted an exclusive one-day conference on April 25th, 2017 at Santa Clara Marriott, California. The conference was dedicated to all the stakeholders in connected car technology and the services that enable it highlighting the industry trends and recent innovations.

Mahbubul Alam, CTO/CMO of Movimento Group was among the distinguished speakers at the conference and spoke on ways for ‘Monetizing the Software Defined Cars of Today and Tomorrow’.

The Software Defined Car™ is an outcome of the evolution from connected devices to connected industries and lastly connected societies, basically smart cities, for which the connected car plays a crucial role. These smart connected cars have transformed from traditionally being hardware enabled into becoming more and more software enabled and into the Software Defined Car™ that is starting to become a reality. This trend does not stand alone but is a key part of the greater concept of human-centric mobility solutions where software and more and more services add a diverse set of monetization opportunities outside of traditional business models. One such service is data powered by over-the-air (OTA) technologies along with the many possible combinations of software update that will be maturing and market ready over time. Examples include software and firmware (S/FOTA) that are currently being rolled out as part of future automotive platforms along with OTA updates with a longer timeframe for commercialization such as updating deep learning algorithms and provide context-based updates.

The area of automotive has never been more exciting than it is today with the transformation of the whole industry in terms of technology, but more interestingly consumption and business models. The number of new companies in an otherwise consolidated industry grows by the day and I am thrilled to be part of this new startup culture.
